It can help clarify initial goals, assess what is currently happening, and identify potential roadblocks. It can also help surface options for growth opportunities and resources for development. Assess Your Role

What is it you would like to focus on?

What is happening right now to derail your progress toward the goal? When and how often does this happen? Be precise if possible.

What possibilities for action do you see?

What are your next steps?

What are your most satisfying achievements in your current position or entire career? What do you want to accomplish this year? Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? How much of a priority are you in your own life? How well do you keep promises to yourself and to others? How satisfied are you with your level of productivity? If you were the CEO, where would you take the company? If you could change the world, what need would you meet or what problems would you solve?

What support and resources do you need? What is your ideal work?

Precisely when will you take them?

What would you like to achieve?

Who might be able to help?

Which options do you like best?

What might get in your way?

What skills do people acknowledge you for? What skills or talents would you like to be acknowledged for?

What would you like to happen that is not happening now?

What effect does it have?

What are the benefits and pitfalls of these options? Which options are of interest to you? Rate from 1 to 10 your assessment of the practicality of each of these options.

Ensure goals are SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and timely).

How would you know if you were being successful if you achieved your goal? How could you break this goal down into manageable chunks?
